Borough Council Hires DPW Director & Clerk

At the council meeting on March 11th, the Council entered a Closed Session to discuss the hiring of a DPW Director & Borough Clerk. However, the public had to ask during the Public Portion of the meeting who was hired, and what the salaries are.
In the past, when a newly introduced resolution was presented at a council meeting that was not available before the meeting, the clerk would read the resolution into the record. Instead, the Council simply voted on the resolutions. No details of the resolutions were provided to the public. There were no copies of these newly introduced resolutions available. Precedent shows that the clerk would read the resolution into the record in an instance like this.
When the public portion of the meeting took place, a resident had to ask for more details on these resolutions. It was only then that the Mayor provided more information about who was hired, and their salaries. If the resident did not ask this very important question, it would not be known immediately who was hired.
While we're grateful that a DPW Director and Borough Clerk were hired, we wish that the Council and Mayor would be more transparent during council meetings. Especially when precedent shows that they should have read these new resolutions into the record, as they were not available before the meeting.
