On Saturday, February 14th, the Scouts of Pack 193 and Boy Scout Troop 193 gathered with their families and invited guests for their annual winter awards ceremony. The Blue and Gold event, named in recognition of the colors of the Cub Scout uniform, is an opportunity to award Scouts for their recent accomplishments in the Scouting program.

Recognizing Scouts regularly for their achievements helps them develop self-confidence, and motivates them to continue advancing in the program.

In addition to awarding members for their advancements, the Blue and Gold event also serves as a graduation ceremony for Scouts who are aging out of the Cub Scout Pack. Scouts who are 10 1/2 years old, or have entered 5th grade, are eligible to join a Boy Scout Troop.

At this year's ceremony Manville Troop 193 was happy to receive graduate Wesley Swanger into their ranks.

There will be a spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 1pm to 5pm on Sunday, March 22nd, at the VFW in Manville. Tickets will cost $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, children 12 and under $8, and children age 5 and under, no charge. It's a fundraiser event to help support the Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops in Manville.

If you are interested in more information about joining Scouting in Manville (Cub Scouts, grades K-5, or Boy Scouts/Scouting America, grades 5-12), or want to purchase tickets for the spaghetti dinner fundraiser, contact: bsanjtroop193@gmail.com.
