The Board of Health meeting held on August 19th had a lot of information coming out of the meeting. From massage parlor shutdowns, to the Board of Health Budget, and finally the longest topic, covering a potential rat problem in Manville. We will be covering all of these topics over the two days.

The meeting opened discussing 3 massage parlor shutdowns in the Borough of Manville.

  • May Spa and Massage at 17th South Main Street
  • Royal Spa at 500 South Main Street
  • Sunny Facial & Spa at 301 North Main Street #4

May Spa and Massage was operating without a license. When the police visited the facility, employees didn't know who their boss was, the kitchen was fully stocked, and did not have a police background check. There was no inspection.

Sunny Facial & Spa was missing a CO from construction, a police background check, and missing a state-issued licensed.

Royal Spa had no license. There were multiple living spaces and personal belongings found at the location.

One board member questioned if there was human trafficking occurring, but there were no facts or information available to confirm or deny the question, as it was beyond the scope of the report.

When the inspectors visited the locations, they had people watching the front and back doors to ensure that nobody left the building while the inspections took place. It was implied that sometimes during an inspection, people in the building try to leave from another door.

ManvilleToday attempted to call each spa during business hours listed on Google to see if they answered the phone.

May Spa and Massage, and Royal Spa ring, and then a busy signal is received. Sunny Facial & Spa rings, then goes to a message that a voicemail box has not been set up. It appears these locations remain closed at the time of this article being published.
