At Monday's Council Meeting on July 21st (rescheduled from the original date of July 14th, due to the flash flooding), the property tax rate was announced by Mayor Richard Onderko.
The 2025 property tax rate is 2.110. The break-down of the rate was not given, such as how much the rates are for the county, library, and school tax, that go into the 2.110 rate.
While the overall tax rate decreased from last year (2024's tax rate was 2.251), this does not mean that your property taxes will decrease. Assessments, especially on residential properties, continue to rise year-over-year.
To calculate your estimated property tax bill, you can use the following formula:
- Take your 2025 assessed value. (Example: $350,000)
- Multiply it by 2.110 (Ex: 350,000 x 2.110 = 738,500)
- Divide that number by 100. (Ex: 738,500 / 100 = 7,385.00)
- Divide by 4 to get a rough estimate of your quarterly property tax payment. (Ex: 7,385.00 / 4 = $1,846.25)
Property taxes will be due on August 27th, due to the delays in finalizing the tax rate. There will be no grace period. If your property tax bill payment is not received by August 27th, interest will accrue dating back to August 1st.
