During the Public Portion at the May 27th Council Meeting, a resident brought up concerns regarding the use of illegal fireworks in the Borough of Manville.

She stated during the Memorial Day weekend, she had a neighbor's firework come through one of the open windows in her home, and the police & fire departments handled the problem.

She asked about having increased police presence during holiday events.

Mayor Onderko responded to her concerns, stating how the police force has a difficult time enforcing problems arising from fireworks. This is because the police have to actually witness the person lighting and setting off the fireworks.

Last year, a Resolution was passed, we covered this story last year here, that will occur on or around July 6th where the Borough of Manville will be sponsoring a fireworks night for the 4th of July in Lost Valley. Mayor Onderko stated there will be messaging to residents to come celebrate, and be safe, by attending the town's event.

The Mayor also stated that if there needs to be increased police patrol, there will be. He also stated that until someone is made an example of, this type of activity will unfortunately continue.
