On Thursday evening on October 2nd, Manville residents were posting to social media about their Optimum service being down and inaccessible.

Residents stated they called technical support, and the representatives instructed them a truck roll would be needed for repairs. Some residents made appointments as directed. Some residents were told that they would need to replace their modems.

However, due to such a widespread issue throughout Manville, it appeared that this was most likely an area outage.

ManvilleToday reached out to Optimum for further information regarding the outage. We received a response at 9:30pm on Thursday stating:

"Confirming that Optimum has successfully restored service to customers in Manville, New Jersey after a damaged fiber line caused an outage. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate our customers' patience as our teams worked quickly throughout the evening to resolve the issue and restore service."

From Optimum's statement above, a damaged fiber line caused Manville customers to lose service. Service has been restored to customers.
