ManvilleToday will be covering the sentencing of former Manville Police Chief Thomas Herbst on Monday.
Mr. Herbst is expected to be back in court on Monday, August 11th, at 9am for his sentencing hearing. The sentencing hearing was postponed via various motions by the defense several times, and was originally scheduled for April 10th.
Public court records show that Mr. Herbst's defense team has submitted a motion for "Bail Pending Appeal" on July 25th. This implies that Mr. Herbst will be appealing his case. The motion by the defense implies they would like Mr. Herbst out on bail pending his appeal case to the Appellate Court.
To recap the former police chief's case, Mr. Herbst was found guilty on these charges:
- Four counts of official misconduct second degree
- One count of pattern of official misconduct second degree
- One count of sexual assault second degree
- One count of criminal sexual contact fourth degree
ManvilleToday will have an update after the court hearing on Monday morning.
