For half a century, when something in Manville needed fixing, strengthening, or steady hands, one name consistently rose to the surface - Mr. David Tarby. During Monday's Council meeting, the Borough officially honored him for 50 years of service with the presentation of a proclamation. For the people who know Mr. Tarby, the recognition simply puts into words what they've known for decades.

Mr. Tarby began his career in Manville's Water Department before moving to the Department of Public Works, where he became known for his reliability, deep knowledge of the town's infrastructure, and his unwavering commitment to keeping Manville running. Whether it was a broken water line, a sewer emergency, or a storm that pushed the town to its limits, Mr. Tarby was one of the first people residents saw on the scene, ready to help.

But his service didn't end when his shift did.

For more than 40 years, Mr. Tarby volunteered with the Manville Fire Department. He also served with the Manville Rescue Squad and contributed his time to the Shade Tree Committee, quietly shaping the safety and character of the town in ways many residents never realized.
