ManvilleToday is monitoring the updates regarding the winter storm expected this weekend. As of the time of this article being published, there is a Winter Storm Warning in effect until Monday at 1pm. Snowfall of 10 to 15 inches is expected, along with ice accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch.

There is also a Cold Weather Advisory in effect from 10pm Friday through 10am Saturday for wind chills as low as 12 below zero.

Make sure you have ManvilleToday's app, and we’ll notify you as weather alerts are issued in real-time. We'll also pass along any important information that is issued by Borough Officials, such as Manville OEM.

Remember, if you're on emergency street, there is no parking during a snow event. Violations on these streets will result in being issued a ticket and the vehicle being towed.

However, if a local state of emergency is declared, there will be no parking on any street in Manville. Quoting Manville OEM's Facebook page:

"In the event that we need to declare a Local State of Emergency there will be NO PARKING on any Borough street during the storm. The locations listed will be available for parking for those residents who cannot park in a driveway or on their lawns. Notification to residents will be made through Borough Social Media Pages, Nixle Alerts and CodeRed Alert should we declare the Local State of Emergency.

1. VFW 2290 - 600 Washington Ave - Main Lot Only.

2. Brooks Blvd Lot between North 3rd Ave and North 4th Ave.

3. Main Street Municipal Lot - South Main Street between South Orchard Street and Rosalie Street

4. Manville Public Library Lot

5. Borough Hall - Lower Parking Lot - North 1st Ave

We ask that any residents that need to park in any of these lots to park in marked spaces and do not block access in and out of the lots. Vehicles will need to be removed from these lots within 12 hours of the snowfall ending to allow for DPW to do cleanup of these lots."

Make sure you are stocked up on essential items ahead of the storm, and prepare for power outages, in case they were to occur. It’s always best to over-prepare ahead of a major storm.

Stay Informed: Sign Up for CodeRed

One of the most important steps residents can take is to ensure they are receiving timely emergency alerts. If you are not already signed up for CodeRed, the Borough’s emergency communication system, now is the perfect time.

Residents can register here: https://www.manvillenj.org/625/Sign-up-for-CodeRED

CodeRed delivers urgent messages via phone, text, and email, keeping the community informed about weather emergencies, road closures, safety instructions, and other critical updates.

Statewide Coordination Underway

A State of Emergency has been declared by the Governor ahead of the storm, for all counties in NJ. New Jersey's emergency management teams, transportation agencies, and utility providers are coordinating ahead of the storm to prepare for snow removal, transit impacts, and potential power interruptions. Depending on the storm’s final track, statewide emergency declarations may be issued.

What Manville Residents Can Do Now

  • Sign up for CodeRed to receive emergency alerts
  • Review the Winter Preparedness Checklist
  • Stock up on essential supplies
  • Prepare vehicles for winter conditions
  • Check on elderly neighbors or those who may need assistance
  • Check on your pets and make sure they are safe with adequate shelter if outdoors

While the exact snowfall totals may shift as the storm approaches, preparation remains key. ManvilleToday will continue to monitor updates and share new information as it becomes available.
