During the Borough Council meeting on Monday, July 13th, the Manville High School Mustangs Football Team was presented with a proclamation from the New Jersey State Legislature recognizing their achievements, with State Senator Doug Steinhardt attending in person to deliver the honor to the players and coaching staff.
The Mustangs made history this past season. For the first time since 1968, Manville finished the regular season undefeated, posting a perfect 9-0 record.
The momentum continued into the postseason, where the team earned its first-ever playoff victory, shutting out Asbury Park 35-0 in front of a packed home crowd.
Under the leadership of Head Coach David Markowitch, the program has undergone a remarkable transformation. The Mustangs climbed from a winless 2020 season to one of the most successful campaigns in school history in just five years.
The Council's recognition highlighted not only the team's athletic accomplishments, but also the pride and unity their season brought to the community. The team has energized Manville, and we cannot wait to see their continued success.
