Manville marked its 9th annual Arbor Day celebration on Tuesday, April 28th, with a tree planting event. The event brought together students, local leaders, and dedicated community volunteers. This year's gathering highlighted the Borough's ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, and the importance of preserving green spaces for future generations.
Members of the ABIS Environmental Club joined Shade Tree Chairman Jack Kuhlman, Mayor Richard Onderko, DPW Director George Watkins, Councilman Chris Basista, Councilwoman Pattie Zamorski, and the hardworking team from the Manville Department of Public Works, to plant three new trees on the east side of Dukes Park.
The trees planted were a White Oak, Willow Oak, and Sycamore. They will grow to provide cool shade, cleaner air, and a beautiful natural canopy for residents to enjoy.
The event reflected the spirit of Arbor Day: community, conservation, and care for the environment. Students and adults alike took part in the planting, learning about the long term impact of trees, and the role they play in the environment.
With each tree planted, Manville continues to invest in a greener, healthier future.
