The Flood Watch has also been cancelled. There is no longer a flood threat to Manville. There may be lingering rain showers overnight, but these will be ordinary showers with no flood threat potential. This storm appeared to affect places to the south of Manville, as well as other regions of our area like New York City.

Residents and businesses in Manville took the forecast seriously. Both enacted on precautions ahead of the storm that was predicted to begin at 2pm, per weather reports. These precautions were not in vain, as it was not clearly known which areas would receive the heaviest rains or effects from the storm.

Manville, as a whole, did an excellent job taking flash flooding precautions. It is better, and safer, to be proactive versus reactive. If the storm were to have delivered heavy rains and flash flooding to Manville, and precautions were not taken, it would have caused problems for residents.

We appreciate our readers following us throughout the day for the latest information. Luckily, this weather event did not affect Manville.

The Flood Watch has been updated to expire at midnight tonight. It appears that the worst parts of the storm system ended for our area. There will still be scattered rain showers through the overnight. The brunt of the system seems to be south of our area.

7/31 @ 5:40pm

The severe thunderstorm watch has been cancelled for our area. Flood watch remains in effect until 6am Friday.

7/31 @ 5:30pm

According to the latest radar, we are currently in a lull. The strongest of the storms are to our south. Remain weather aware, as the biggest threats for these storms will be through early evening.

The Flash Flood Warning & Severe Thunderstorm Warning that people were discussing on social media had Manville just outside of the "polygon" warned area. This means that Manville wasn't in the exact location for these two warnings.

Manville OEM has shared that Rustic Mall's parking lot (the vacant lot behind Main Street) is now open, for residents wishing to move their vehicles to higher ground ahead of potential flash flooding.
