Earlier this week, it was reported that Dr. Jamil Maroun, Manville's Superintendent of Schools, would be resigning from his position. He would be then be hired as Franklin Township's Superintendent at a special meeting held on June 4th in Franklin.

ManvilleToday received confirmation that Franklin Township's Board of Education approved the hiring of Dr. Jamil Maroun as their new Superintendent of Schools. They held a special meeting on Thursday, June 4th, and approved his hiring.

Dr. Maroun had his contract renewed last year with Manville's school district. This was a year earlier than the actual end date of his contract, which was June 30, 2026. His current contract was rescinded, and replaced with the new contract ending on June 30th, 2030.

His contract was renewed on May 13th, 2025, in the amount of $195,000 for the period of July 1st, 2025 through June 30th, 2026 (pro-rated), with annual salary increases.

If Dr. Maroun remained with Manville's school district, he would have earned $219,474 in the final year of the contract, which was July 1st, 2029 through June 30th, 2030.

Last night, ManvilleToday received an official statement from Board of Education President Tina Breen confirming Dr. Jamil Maroun's resignation from Manville.

Ms. Breen stated: "While we are saddened to lose an exceptional leader, we are filled with immense gratitude for the ten years of unwavering dedication he has given to our students, staff, families, and community,"

Ms. Breen's statement continued: "Under Dr. Maroun's leadership, the Manville School District has experienced significant growth and progress. His vision, dedication, and steady leadership have strengthened our schools and created opportunities that have positively impacted our students and staff. We thank him for his years of service and wish him continued success in his future endeavors."

Manville's Board of Education will need to find and hire a new superintendent.

Per the release provided to ManvilleToday, Manville's Board of Education remains committed to selecting a new superintendent who will be a leader that builds upon the current strong foundation established, maintaining the district's progress, and continue advancing the goals and priorities of Manville's Board of Education.

Ms. Breen concluded her letter by stating: "Please join me in thanking Dr. Maroun for his decade of service to the Manville School District and wishing him the very best in the next chapter of his career."
