At Monday's Borough Council Meeting, a proclamation was read into the record honoring Damien Hans Schumacher on achieving the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout.

The Mayor and Borough Council have had the privilege of recognizing many Scouts who have earned this honor, and it remains a great source of pride for the Borough of Manville. Only approximately four percent of Scouts nationwide achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, making this accomplishment especially noteworthy.

One of the requirements for earning the Eagle Scout rank is the successful completion of a community service project that demonstrates planning, leadership, and service to others. Damien planned and led a project addressing food insecurity within the community by organizing a food drive in partnership with the Somerset County Food Bank Network.

In addition, he coordinated the construction and installation of a mini food pantry at the Thomas J. Kavanaugh VFW Post 2290. Through his dedication and leadership, Damien has created a lasting community resource to support residents in need.

In recognition of this outstanding achievement, the proclamation further declared that April 18, 2026, shall henceforth be designated as "Damien Hans Schumacher Day" in the Borough of Manville.
