Manville has aging DPW equipment which was brought up during Councilman Joe Lukac's DPW committee report on May 27th. Aging equipment has been an issue in Manville for many years.

Typically, Manville's trend has been to repair equipment, but as equipment continues to age, the cost of repairs can be very expensive.

Manville did acquire a new garbage truck, which was featured in the Memorial Day parade.

DPW Committee Chairman Councilman Lukac stated a 25 year old former sewer truck broke down, and the repair quote was $23,000.

The DPW committee agreed to not auction off aging trucks, but will instead use the older trucks, that are no longer in service, for spare parts. Parts appear to be almost impossible to find for the aging trucks.

Both leaf vacuum trucks are also on the "brink of disrepair" where Councilman Lukac stated that the cost of repairs will become greater than 50% to repair them, versus simply purchasing a new piece of equipment.

A bucket truck recently came back from repairs, and within a few days after being returned to service, the gauges stopped working, and will need to be looked at and discussed during the next DPW committee meeting.
