The Manville Borough Council held its annual Reorganization Meeting on January 3rd, bringing together elected officials, Borough staff, and residents for the formal start of the 2026 governing year.
This annual meeting includes the swearing‑in of newly elected council members, the appointment of committee assignments, professional appointments, and the reaffirmation of the Borough's organizational structure for the year ahead.
Christopher Basista and Stefanie Sanchez took their oaths of office at the start of the ceremony, officially beginning their terms on the Borough Council.
The oaths were administered by Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, who joined the event alongside family members, friends, and fellow elected officials. Upon completion of the oath of office, Councilwoman Patricia Zamorski read a Proclamation into the record recognizing Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman for her dedicated public service.
During the meeting, Councilman Joe Lukac was unanimously selected by his colleagues to serve as Council President for the 2026 term.
After the formalities of swearing in the newest Council members and Council President, the Mayor and Council moved on to the business of the day which included the nomination of Council Liaison assignments and professional appointments.
Another significant moment during the meeting was the transition of Borough Attorney. After 32 years of service, Borough Attorney Ted Maciag concluded his tenure with the Borough of Manville. Maciag reflected on his decades of work with the community and spoke warmly about the many similarities he shares with his successor, attorney Scott Salmon -- including beginning their municipal careers at the same age and attending law school in Pennsylvania.
In a fitting and personal gesture, Mr. Maciag administered the oath of office to Mr. Salmon, who was joined by his infant daughter as he was sworn in. The moment marked both a respectful farewell and a welcoming of new leadership. Council members reflected fondly of their time working with Ted and thanked him for his service.

The meeting concluded with comments from the Council, the Mayor's annual address and the presentation of the Community Recognition Award to Mr. Joe Ketusky for his contributions to the Borough.
The 2026 Reorganization Meeting sets the foundation for the year ahead as the Council now begins its work on behalf of Manville's residents. The first Borough Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 12th at 7pm, and is open to all residents.
